Projects
Mercurius Biofuels is currently developing two projects. First we are developing an exciting and potentially transformative techology to convert cellulosic material into drop-in, hydrocarbon diesel and jet fuel.
Secondly, we are researching using the Ethanolysis step of our technology to produce high value green chemicals.
Cellulosic Jet Fuel and Diesel
Mercurius is developing transformative cellulosic fuel technology to make jet fuel and diesel blendstocks. The diesel fuel will have superior blending charactaristics for cetane and cold flow properties and will be compatible with petroleum diesel and biodiesel. The cellulosic jet fuel product has recently been tested and has met the freeze point specification for JP-8.
Green Chemicals
The Ethanolysis step of REACH technology can be used to create commercial scale production with industrial levels of purity of Ethyl Levulinate (EL) a green chemical that has many uses. Mercurius is teaming with the EERC and a producer of renewable product from EL to explore this exciting opportunity. In addition, chemical products such as formic acid, ethyl formate, and furfural can be produced.
